Eifman Ballet returns to London in April with the UK premiere of Rodin (April 15, 16 and 17) and Anna Karenina (April 19, two performances) based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy. The company will perform at the London Coliseum. Eifman Ballets’ London performnaces are part of the UK-Russia Year of Culture 2014 celebrating a wide ranging programme of UK cultural projects taking place across Russia and an unprecedented showcase of Russian culture in the UK.

Previous guest performances of St. Petersburg Eifman Ballet were held in London in April 2012, when the company premiered in the British capital such world-famous productions as Anna Karenina and Onegin. That past season at the London Coliseum, home of English National Opera, aroused the enthusiastic response from the British audience and came into focus of the leading ballet critics who recognized the singularity of Boris Eifman’s creative thinking. The Stage calls Eifman's choreographic vocabulary "muscular and energetic" and Laura Thompson from The Daily Telegraph says in her review of Anna Karenina: "This production exerts a relentless grip". The ballet, as the critic notices, leave the spectators "applauding the Eifman company for its passionate integrity, and Eifman himself for a gift for showmanship".

The UK dance critics are looking forward to the company's return. Graham Watts, chair of the Dance Critics Circle, writes in the recent review of Rodin that was attended by him in February in St. Petersburg: "Rodin is a perfect vehicle for Eifman’s skill at whipping up a dramatic storm through his unique brand of dance theatre and an unerring eye for detail and characterisation" (DanceTabs).
