Boris Eifman's new ballet Requiem set to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich and W. A. Mozart and based on a poem "Requiem" by Anna Akhmatova will be premiered at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg on January 27.

The premiere is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the complete raising of the Nazi siege of Leningrad. Eifman Ballet will perform the "Requiem" ballet together with the "Moscow Virtuosi" Chamber Orchestra (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Vladimir Spivakov) and The Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing".

The WWII veterans, defenders and inhabitants of besieged Leningrad shall be the first viewers of the new production. This social and cultural initiative is organized by the St. Petersburg Eifman Ballet, the "Moscow Virtuosi" Chamber Orchestra and Alexandrinsky Theatre.
